Horseman’s Park was originally built as an attractive, gated subdivision of 119 single family properties, developed by Continental Homes. It is located just to the west of McDowell Mountain Ranch.
There were six models available when it was first offered for sale in 2002. Each offered a variety of floor plans as well as a choice of four different exterior elevations. This emphasis on exterior customization gave the community a diversified yet unified look.
The individual floor plans varied in size from 1667 to 2968 square feet and the initial sales prices ranged from the $290’s for the smaller models to the low $400’s for the larger models, including premiums for view lots.
There were five single story models and one two-story design. Two of the models; the Partridge and the Cunningham (note the references to iconic TV shows with a pro-family theme) included a 3 car garage. In addition, many of the homes backed to a wash, were located on cul-de-sacs or were set on curved streets.

D.R. Horton Continental.
Horseman’s Park was developed in 2002 by Continental Homes, a division of D. R. Horton. The parent company was founded in 1978 in Fort Worth, Texas and actually acquired the Continental Homes Corporation in 1997. However, the organization elected to continue to build under the Continental name in the Phoenix market area because of the very positive reputation that the company enjoyed for many years prior to its purchase.
The original acquisition actually created one of the largest and most geographically diversified single family homebuilders in the country at the time. Today the company focuses on the construction and sale of high quality single-family detached homes, town homes, and condominiums with sales prices that range as high as $900,000. In 2006, they delivered 53,000 new homes in 85 markets in 27 states.
